Presenting Omega's Peak Stories

Pulished:

Our team in PS Australia presents the first conference of the Omega PEAK Concept in; a series of conference events for Project Enhancement And Knowledge based on Omega experience.

“We hope to share our experience in project delivery and the various challenges we meet when working on large scale projects such as Scarabeo 8. Also, we hope to extend our relationship with the local Australian market, and encourage knowledge sharing for the benefit of our industry. Conferences such as these is a great platform for this kind of networking,” says Trevor Laffrey, CMS Department Manager for Omega Australia.

On the initiative of Laffrey along with Special Projects Consultant Sally Dietzler, Projects Consultant Manager Simon Calvert and Office and Events Co-ordinator Zoe Herbert, Omega now presents its first Peak Conference (Project Enhancement And Knowledge) 20 September, inviting a number of representatives from companies in the oil and energy industry in Australia for knowledge sharing and networking in Perth.

War stories

This will be the first of many Peak events on Omega locations around the world, where we can trade tips and share experiences with other companies in the industry.

“We hope to run them in every one of our locations worldwide every year, inviting existing and potential clients. We believe these events will help us to stay close to our clients and give them "added value" for being our clients. The conferences will also be a means for potential new clients to learn more about us and what we do,“ says Sally Dietzler, who also points out that stories such as Scarabeo 8 is the ideal example to show how the Omega way works on both on the system and services side of the business.

Neil Carlsen will be Omega’s first Peak presenter, giving the audience the story of our work on Scarabeo 8; a AUD 1,4 Billion project on one of the worlds most advanced drilling rigs. The presentations will be followed by Q&A with a panel of external experts in commissioning.

“People like to share "war stories" about big projects and how to manage them to success. The Scarabeo 8 rig is similar to large rigs around the world. Re-building it after the fire was a complex job and a relevant experience to the projects being undertaken in Australia. With Neil’s insight into the business and how to use Pims CMS, the Peak conference will be a fun way to bring useful information and "link" clients in Australia to the wider Omega company , make them aware of how we can bring in expertise from around the world.”

Mellomtittel

After the inaugural conference 20 September, new topics on new locations will be offered every year. Our conference crew in Australia believe Omega have plenty of “was stories” to tell; Contract Management Success for Mining expansion Projects with Omnicom clients in focus, Pims in building and operating new mine sites, or “People making the difference” – the Omega way of bringing a project in on time. Consultant Manager Simon Calvert points out that the Peak conference is not about “advertising Omega”, but learning how to succeed from knowledge sharing.

“Peak is about sharing knowledge learnt from large-scale projects, like Scarabeo 8, with the industry. If we are able to show people another way to manage a major project that will allow us to work closer with clients and allow them to find new ways of delivering projects safely, on time, on budget and without compromising on standards, then that will be a success from my prospective.”
