Steady progress in Omega 365 Protek

Earlier this year, Omega 365 Protek carried out its follow-up audit of ISO 9001, with no non-conformances, recommendations, or observations found. This result comes despite the recent restructuring process following the company’s acquisition by Omega 365.

Jan Bauge, Department Manager at Omega 365 Protek, underlines the results.

“It's incredible to get through the ISO follow-up audit with no findings. Protek's merger with Omega 365 has not gone smoothly.  The merger between PDS Protek and Omega 365 has had its challenges, especially with integrating and coordinating two new systems. However, thanks to the hard work of everyone involved, who have done an excellent job in a short amount of time, this is reflected in the audit results. We have not reached our goal yet, but by building on this work, we ensure the quality of what we are doing. The continuous work to create improvement has now been systematized,” he says.

Bid Support Manager i Omega 365 Core, Kjersti Jondal Thorsen

Kjersti Jondal Thorsen, Bid Support Manager in Omega 365 Core, says that there is thorough work behind the good results.

“The company's quality system is something we have developed and implemented in our operations for several years.  After the acquisition last year, we have worked a lot on updating the systems and adapting them to Omega 365. We have introduced several overarching policies and governing documents, centrally located within Omega and integrated into Protek’s systems.”

The work on ISO was the last part of a series of reviews in the first half of 2024.

“We started with the Miljøfyrtårn certification (Norwegian eco-sertification), followed by the Magnet JQS audit, and lastly a follow-up audit of ISO 9001. We have a solid plan for further work on the quality system,” she says.

In June, they received the results of the follow-up audit and Thorsen is very pleased with the results.

“It was great! We have been a team that has worked very well and shared the tasks both in the preparation and follow-up. Øivind Erland, Business Developer in Omega 365 Core, Trine Halsnes, Department Manager in Protek Haugesund and Sindre Øverås have been key people in getting everything adapted and in place in Omega 365.”

The satisfactory results are a signal that they are doing a lot of things right.

“This means that we have received a clear stamp of quality in the way we work. Then we can focus further on improving what we deliver,” Thorsen concludes.

Trine Halsnes, department manager at Omega 365 Protek's Haugesund office, worked actively with the implementation. She points out that the work with ISO has also been an important competence enhancement for the team.

“There is a lot you don't fully grasp when you start an ISO certification. However, when you encounter some challenges in your daily operations, you begin to understand what ISO certification is all about. We have worked in detail to optimize our efficiency, and now we have a good routine in place. When we carried out the follow-up audit this year, we knew what to do and had an increased understanding of why ISO is important. The experience we have gained in the past has contributed to us having an almost frictionless year in 2023 in terms of deliveries. The customers are very satisfied, and ISO 9001 has been a valuable competence enhancement,” she concludes.
