Lithuanian Omega subsidiary "Omega Technology" Ltd. in collaboration with Klaipeda University successfully implemented an EU co-financed economics development project

In the process of the project Information Science department of Klaipeda University has performed a study for "Omega Technology" Ltd. named "Application of electronic collaboration systems in educational and scientific organisations (on the example of Klaipeda University)" where they have analysed if Omega developed systems TeamDocuments and IssueTracker that are successfully used in commercial environment would also benefit the processes of academic environment.

Research results

The performed study allowed to figure out that electronic collaboration systems can create added value in a typical business processes of educational and scientific organisation, also demonstrated specific application examples in Klaipeda University. The research results allow to state that the electronic collaboration system created by Omega would be useful in such organisations and they can be offered to other similar institutions.

EU Structural Support

The project was partly financed by EU Funds and Lithuanian co-financing funds (Operational Programmes for Lithuania for years 2007 - 2013), which has covered 80% of expenses of the project and basically paid for the services of the researching institution. "Omega Technology" Ltd. was obliged to invest at least 20% of the total cost of the project, however the expense of managing the project is considered as valid investment.

We hope that result of this project will have a positive impact on: development of existing products and creation of new ones; increasing competitiveness of the company on the market; expanding company's area of activity; introducing international products to Lithuanian market; and of course continuation of collaboration with the university.
