Omega takes another step into the IT market, offering strategic IT services in the Southwestern region of Norway. Already, several large businesses in the district have utilized IT expertise from the newly-launched Omega IT-ledelse (IT Management).

Following the introduction of Omega IT Consultants, Omega’s second IT endeavor was launched in January 2014. Omega IT-ledelse offers advice and strategic solutions for businesses in the private and public sectors.

"There have been enormous developments in information technology over the past ten years. IT was originally used as a means of making your business more effective, it has now become a strategic tool to run an entire company. It is not just a supporting tool, but an instrument that enables businesses to become even more competitive," says Arne Myskja, Department Manager i Omega IT-ledelse.

Regional presence

Alongside Department Manager, Ole Mannes, he presented this new Omega business area for both private and public companies in the Haugalandet region in February. Omega IT-ledelse has already gained a foothold in their sector, with Knutsen Shipping and Ølen Betong (one of Norway's largest producers of concrete products)in their client portfolio.

"Today, there are a wide selection of services covering servers, networks, databases and general development expertise. First and foremost, we want to focus on what is at the other end of the value chain - strategy, support for IT Management, communication strategies, and project management," says Mannes.

He points out that Omega is the ideal starting point from which to offer this kind of expertise, in terms of geographical location, experience in the industry, and the recruitment competence.

"IT Management and strategy are disciplines that are often connected with large international companies. We see Omega's strong local presence as an advantage in the region. In a tough market, featuring intense competition for IT resources, it is also a strength having Omega's recruitment expertise to support us," says Myskja.

Building on 25 years' experience

Myskja has over 25 years' experience from sales, strategy and client responsibility for large IT projects in oil and gas, industry and energy projects in Norway, Sweden and the USA. Mannes has, over many years, participated in IT project management, administrative management, and development/design of IT systems. He has experience in the establishment, development and management of several companies.
