Omega expands in Canada

Omega has entered into a partnership with Canadian firm NSB Energy and has expanded the consulting business with 125 employees in Canada. The partnership will provide our two companies with greater access to the global market.

“This strategic partnership will provide both Omega and NSB Energy with a greater variety of consulting opportunities for employees and clients. The partnership will also strengthen access to a global labor market with leading players in the oil and gas sector,” says CEO, Petter Aalvik.

Omega CEO Petter Aalvik  and NSB Energy CEO, Michael Critch.

The partnership agreement was signed in February in St. Johns, Newfoundland, where NSB Energy has its headquarters. NSB Energy has 125 employees and a branch office in Houston, Texas.

NSB Energy’s Chief Executive Officer, Michael Critch, is looking forward to working with Omega and suggests that the partnership will provide numerous opportunities for the employees of both companies.

“NSB Energy is pleased and excited to partner with Omega. NSB, like Omega, believes strongly in our people, their wellbeing both at work and home, involvement in the community as well as responsive customer delivery. Together, we will create more opportunities for the employees of both NSB and Omega. Our compliment of clients will provide more strength on the global stage and open doors to global agreements.”

Shared values

The Canadian consulting firm provides services across a variety of disciplines within project management including engineering, project control, IT, contract management, purchasing and logistics, construction, commissioning, quality management, HSE and administration.

NSB Energy and Omega share expertise in many of the same consulting disciplines and are also well-aligned in terms of company culture, says Aalvik.

“NSB Energy and Omega share the same basic values across several areas; both companies offer their employees industry-leading welfare programs and we both put great emphasis on positive engagement in the communities in which we operate. Because of Omega and NSB Energy’s active social engagements and shared corporate culture, it will be possible for us all to retain our core values as we grow, locally and internationally,” says Aalvik.

Although Omega has invested in a shareholding in NSB Energy to become a strategic partner, NSB Energy will be controlled by its Newfoundland owners and will carry on business as usual.

Two branches in Canada

“We have been active in Canada since 2006, when we established Omega PS Canada in Calgary, primarily to sell our Pims software. Our branch office in Canada will continue to focus on the delivery of Pims systems and co-operate closely with NSB Energy, which will continue developing consulting services in Canada. We also think that NSB Energy might bring onboard more opportunities for Pims sales,” says Aalvik.

The Omega Group has over 1000 employees and had in a turnover of 1.6 billion NOK in 2014.
