Delivering global pims package for Maersk Oil

Several of Omega’s Pims modules have for years been utilized on Maersk Oil’s projects worldwide. The international conglomerate will now run ten Pims modules simultaneously, and will start to implement the software systems in their projects stretching across borders.

Omega’s Pims systems have been utilized by Maersk Oil for several years, and it was Maersk Oil who approached Omega requesting a more extensive Pims solution. “This project has manifested our position with Maersk Oil, says department manager for software systems in Omega, Svein Tore Haraldseid.

By the end of this year, a new total Pims package from Omega will be in use on several of Maersk Oil's large-scale projects.

"Maersk Oil will be the first of our clients to run a package like this from us. This compilation of software systems includes ten of our project management modules, which will be available for Maersk’s international projects", says department manager for software systems in Omega, Roger Arnesen.

Omega delivers Pims, the project management system for the oil and gas industry worldwide, and has developed a range of software products that combined cover all steps within project completion. Ten of these software programs will now be a part of a total package created for Maersk Oil’s global projects.

During the course of 2015, the consolidation of software programs will be implemented on three of Maersk’s larger projects:

After implementing the systems on these projects, the package is set to be installed at the Dunga field in Kazakhstan and at Maersk in Esbjerg, Denmark.

Omega’s Pims systems have been utilized by Maersk Oil on several large international projects recent years.

"It was Maersk Oil that approached us and requested a more comprehensive Pims solution; in other words, the company management are now asking that almost all of our Pims modules become an integrated part of their projects," says Arnesen.

With such a compact offer, all Pims systems will be available in a separate system enabling more efficient communication, than if the systems were applied individually. In relation to this request from Maersk Oil, Omega has developed a system to facilitate easier communication between the software programs, and to become a seamless project management tool for large, complex projects.

In response to this, Omega created a complete package that is ready to install also with other costumers that are looking for a more comprehensive Pims solution.

"This project has manifested our position with Maersk Oil & Gas; we are now the central software systems supplier on several of their international projects, something that gives us the opportunity to promote our system solutions even further. We already have many existing clients that we want to offer this combination of software tools. This way, it will be easier for clients to utilize different systems simultaneously," department manager for software systems in Omega, Svein Tore Haraldseid points out.

"Considering that Maersk was the one to request a larger package solution for different projects, it proves that Pims really does the job. Delivering this package to Maersk will open new doors for how we can deliver our systems to international actors in the time to come," says Haraldseid.
