Karina hands out 500 litres
of windshield washer fluid

HSEQ manager in Omega, Karina Hovden Stava, hands out approximately 500 litres of windshield washer fluid as a symbol and reminder for people to stay safe as they head off to the mountains, the sea, or stay at home during the Easter holidays.

HSEQ manager in Omega, Karina Hovden Stava ensures her colleagues travel safely to the mountains and send them off with windshield washer fluid as an Easter holiday greeting this year.

To remind her colleagues in Omega and others, about safety in the mountains, on the sea and at home during Easter time, Karina arranged for handing out windshield washer fluid to her colleagues at every Omega office location in Norway.

- We bought around 500 litres of windshield washer fluid and handed them out as a symbol and reminder about safety and being prepared for unforeseen circumstances. It’s not a bad idea to practice being prepared for anything that might happen, says Karina.

Safety for land and at sea

In addition to ensuring her colleagues have a clean windshield, she also emphasizes the importance of being properly clothed for the weather conditions one encounters in the holidays, and this applies for the whole year too, be it on land or at sea.

Sunscreen, sunglasses, band-aid, and the Easter egg stuffed with candy… well, then you probably have a majority of what you need for the holiday. Did you remember to fill windshield washer fluid on the car by the way? Having a clean windshield is important – do as Karina, and fill up washer liquid before you leave for the mountains. Happy Easter!

- There is no point in filling up windshield washer fluid if the wipers are worn down, and if you are going to the mountains, it might be good to keep your winter tires on. Remember to pack snacks and blankets for the car ride, and ensure that no loose objects can hurt the driver or passengers if an accident occurs, she says and also emphasizes the importance of having a high visibility jacket available in the car.

- Not only is having a high visibility jacket in the car mandatory, but it means a great deal in terms of being seen or not if an accident occurs.

Recently, the author of this article got to experience the benefits of having a high visibility jacket readily available in the car, as he punctured a tire three kilometres down in the Bømlafjord tunnel in the middle of the holiday rush. It was very good to know that the people in the surrounding cars could see me as I set up the warning triangle. We should have had blankets and snacks in the car as Karina encourages us to have for our holiday outings. In our situation, the wait for the towing truck was not too long.

Happy Easter

- Anything else we should remember, Karina?

- Hm, maybe to be careful with gas burners and flammable liquids in boats and RVs. At sea, the life jacket is as important for adults as they are for children. And don’t forget to bring appropriate communication equipment if something were to happen. In general, remember good, warm clothes, sunscreen, sunglasses, and maybe a good Easter holiday thriller book. And I should not forget to mention the Easter eggs with candy, adds Karina and wishes everyone a happy Easter.
