Department Manager for Systems in Ølensvåg, Svein Tore Haraldseid says the systems development aspect of Omega experiencing better times compared to the challenges usually seen in the energy sector these days.

“We have experienced increased demand for our Pims tools and services. The oil and gas industry is going through tough times, and are trying to reduce costs and increase efficiency. We then see it as a quality stamp on our products and services when they chose to go with us. This shows that we have found the key to developing efficient and cost reducing project management tools. Our clients see the value in this,” says Haraldseid.

Omega is continuing to build its business on long experience from project management. The demand for Pims has increased and Omega has also gotten a foothold in other market segments such as infrastructure, transportation and pharmaceuticals, says  Omega founder Sigmund Lunde and department manager Svein Tore Haraldseid.

Omega is the largest unlisted software company, writes Kapital. EVRY is the nation’s largest software company and Opera Software takes the second place, followed by Omega with a previous turnover of 1567 million NOK.

For more than 20 years, Omega has delivered the software Pims to leading actors within the oil and gas business across the world.

Omega has become a repeated name on the list, and has been among the top ten companies for ten years. From the 8th place in 2005, the company has climbed towards the top and has stayed among the top three for the past seven years.

“We have always had a strong focus on long-term relations with our clients. Many of our biggest clients within the oil and gas business has been with us for many years, which has created new opportunities for us with existing clients,” says Haraldseid.

During the last couple of years, Omega has also expanded into other segments of the market with the Pims tools. They have established a foothold within transportation and logistics and in the pharmaceutical industry. The Norwegian Railway company (Jernbaneverket) and the pharmaceutical giant, Novo Nordisk, has begun utilizing the project management tools from Omega.

“Omega has had a strong position within oil and gas. Many other sectors have begun to look towards the project management competency Omega has acquired through their work in the energy sector, and the knowledge we have gained positions us in other segments of the market as well,” says Haraldseid.

Kapital writes: The growth in turnover related to the project management tool, Pims, was only 1 percent. The result after taxes was stable right under 60 million NOK
