Work Execution Team Lead


Position: Work Execution Generation Team Leads 

Job Function

  • Responsible for the Muskrat Falls Generation asset group within the established Asset Management frame work, and the management of associated trades, and tools and equipment resources as required to execute the weekly, monthly and annual asset work plans. 
  • Ensures that work is performed with a focus on safety, the environment, quality, cost, schedule, productivity, and effectiveness, and reports on work execution metrics. 
  • Provides input into long-term planning function of long and short-term asset work plans, recognizing the dynamic nature and the expertise of others, 
  • Supervises four front line trades supervisors. 
  • Works closely with management and operations team to dispatch resources appropriately across both generation and transmission assets. 
  • Supports Oversight and coordination of Operations and Maintenance Contractors as required 
  • Receives direction form Senior Manager Production, Muskrat Falls 

    Job Scope

1. Ensure safe execution of the work plans.

2. Determines, and confirms with short term planning personnel, resource allocation requirements in advance of the current year to ensure proper resource budgeting, logistics, etc.

3. Ensure staffing levels, necessary tools, and inventory are available to perform the work identified in the annual work plan.

4. Coordinates preparation of and administers annual operating budgets.

5. Assists long term and short-term planning personnel in building annual maintenance plan and schedules for project work and the maintenance backlog, using priority and equipment service availability constraints.

6. Maintains effective relationships with Operations, project management, long and short-term planning personnel.

7. Provides feedback to the short term and long-term planning staff to ensure that key knowledge is compiled for future work.

8. Ensure that employee training needs are identified, appropriate for the job requirements and up-to-date.

9. Ensures succession plan is in place for replacement of key staff.

10. Maintains effective record keeping on the quality/quantity of completed work. Monitors maintenance execution productivity and effectiveness, and reports on work execution metrics.

 11. Ensures that work is performed in accordance with approved work methods and within the guidelines of the work protection code.

12. Executes maintenance tactics on all assigned equipment, assists with the development of maintenance tactics.

13. Advises staff on matters relating to their productivity and safety and provides coaching when required. 14. Communicates regularly with other Work Execution Leads on field activities, and promotes this process for supervisory staff.

15. Monitors equipment maintenance costs ensuring that they are within budget and reforecasts where necessary on a monthly basis.

16. Prepares plans as would be required to cover any foreseeable equipment emergency.

17. Ensures that adequate inventory levels are maintained as necessary to maintain the equipment.

18. Investigates equipment problems, communicates details to the appropriate personnel, identifies trends and makes recommendations for mediation, replacement or upgrade.

19. Maintains a current knowledge of applicable engineering standards, Government codes and standards, Corporate Policy & Procedures, Work Protection Codes, Loss Control Standards, Project Management Manual, Corporate Purchasing Procedures, Corporate Safety Manual, and Environmental Standards.

20. Ensures compliance with all pertinent legislative requirements such as OH&S Act, TDG Act, Environmental Protection Act, Labor Standards Act, etc.

21. Maintains a current knowledge of, and ensures that the Collective Agreement is administered consistently across the Corporation, in coordination with the Human Resources Department.

22. Develops and monitors the performance of Environmental Management System programs and standards as required

23. Ensures that an Environmental Management System (EMS) is managed in accordance with the ISO 14001 standard, and plays a lead role in improving the EMS. Assists in the administration and application of the Corporate Environment Standards.

24. Ensures that safety regulations, policies, procedures and work permit codes are followed and that regular safety meetings are held.

25. Requirement to be on-call after-hours as necessary 26. Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum educational/experience:

  • Degree in Engineering, Technology, or other relevant disciple or graduation from a three year technology Program. 
  • Certified Journeypersons with relevant supplementary training may be considered. 
  • Extensive progressively responsible and relevant experience in the electrical utility industry, with relevant and transferable experience at the supervisory or management is required. 
  • Preferred candidates shall have a high degree of demonstrated knowledge technical knowledge for the assets assigned. 
  • Incumbents shall work in accordance with the Health and Safety Policies & Procedures and strive to eliminate any potential risk which could result in personal injury or occupational illness
