Contracts Manager

NSB Omega is searching for a Contracts Manager for our Client in Ontario, supporting the construction and development of a new battery manufacturing plant. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in contract negotiation, risk management, and legal compliance, particularly in construction and manufacturing sectors. This role will ensure the effective management of contracts related to plant construction, equipment procurement, and other essential projects that contribute to the successful establishment of our battery production facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the drafting, negotiation, and management of all contracts related to the construction and operation of the new plant, including agreements with contractors, suppliers, vendors, and service providers.
  • Ensure that all contracts are compliant with local, provincial, and national laws and regulations, including health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Collaborate with legal, finance, procurement, and operations teams to ensure smooth contract execution and mitigate potential risks.
  • Review and assess contract terms and conditions to identify potential risks and opportunities for cost savings.
  • Monitor and enforce contract performance, ensuring that parties adhere to agreed terms and timelines.
  • Resolve contract disputes or issues that arise during the plant construction phase in a timely and effective manner.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices in contract management.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on contract status, risks, and opportunities to senior management.
  • Manage and update the contract database, ensuring that all documents are accurately stored and easily accessible.
  • Provide guidance and training to team members and stakeholders on contract-related matters.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Law, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in contract management, with a focus on construction or manufacturing projects.
  • Experience working in the battery or energy sector, particularly in large-scale plant construction, is highly preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of contract law, procurement processes, and risk management strategies.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to manage relationships with external contractors and internal stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in contract management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of Ontario construction regulations and safety standards is a plus.
  • PMP or similar project management certification is an asset.
