Project Estimator
Assignment Description
The Project Estimator supports the execution of a global portfolio of projects ranging from $10 million to $2+ billion. They will be responsible for developing FEL 1 and 2 estimates and reviewing and assessing the validity of contractor’s estimates in FEL 3. The position will be expected to manage a workload of multiple estimates for different projects in various phases of develop.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Works with project managers and teams in developing estimates at various stages of the project’s life.
- Support maintenance of the estimating tools, methodology, and historical data to assist the conceptual estimating process.
- Reviews contractor’s estimates for completeness and a reasonable cost basis that supports the project’s physical scope.
- Assist the project team in resolution of estimating issues involving cost, schedule, and changes.
- Assist with the implementation, collection, data storage, and publishing of project metrics.
- Conduct post project audits to collect actual data versus estimated data for the purpose of making adjustments to estimating assumptions and processes.
- Generates and publishes project metrics and is accountable for benchmarking and calibration of estimating tools with current market and industry standards.
- Evaluates and sets escalation in accordance with company guidelines.
- Participates in continuing education and professional development as appropriate.
- Assist the department to complete specific initiatives, company goals, and process development.
Qualifications Required
Min. Qualifications
- Knowledge of AACE International recommended practices related to estimating is preferred.
- Experience utilizing Aspen Capital Cost Estimator (ACCE)
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in business, engineering, or construction management is preferred. Greater work experience required for non-degreed individuals.
- 10+ years of experience in capital projects, chemical, or petrochemical industry required with a degree.
- Non-degreed candidates should have 12+ years of experience in project execution and/or project estimation.
- Past work experience in industrial construction, estimating, cost, or scheduling is preferred.
- English, additional language preferred
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and effectively handle multiple projects and/or changing priorities.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing with internal and external clients.
