SSHE Lead FIFO 14/14 (Safety, Security, Health, and Environment Lead)
NSB Omega is searching for a SSHE Lead for our MAJOR Oil & Gas Client for a FIFO(14/14) Seasonal 6 month role in Kearl, AB.
Assignment Description
We are seeking an experienced and driven SSHE Lead to support operations at our Kearl, Alberta site. This rotational FIFO position is responsible for leading Safety, Security, Health, and Environmental (SSHE) initiatives across field operations while promoting a strong culture of compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will work closely with site leadership, contractors, and frontline personnel to ensure all work activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Provide daily SSHE leadership and field support for site operations and maintenance activities
Promote and reinforce a proactive safety culture through coaching, mentoring, and visible leadership
Conduct field inspections, audits, observations, and hazard assessments
Lead incident reporting, investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action tracking
Ensure compliance with company policies, client expectations, and Alberta OH&S regulations
Facilitate toolbox talks, safety meetings, orientations, and training sessions
Support emergency response preparedness and participation in drills
Monitor environmental and occupational health requirements within operational areas
Maintain accurate SSHE documentation, statistics, and reporting metrics
Collaborate with operations and contractor teams to identify and mitigate risks
Participate in site planning, permitting, and work execution reviews
Qualifications & Requirements
Diploma, certificate, or degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline preferred
Minimum 5+ years of industrial or oil sands SSHE experience
Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a field environment
Strong knowledge of Alberta OH&S legislation and industry best practices
Experience supporting large-scale industrial, construction, or maintenance projects
Excellent communication, organizational, and conflict resolution skills
Strong incident investigation and risk assessment capabilities
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital reporting systems
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean abstract
Preferred Certifications
National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation
CRSP or working toward designation considered an asset
