ROLE DESCRIPTION
The Lead Scheduler and Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring detailed project schedules in close coordination with contractors and the owner’s project team.
The role ensures that planning is realistic, transparent, and aligned with project milestones, contractual obligations, and resource availability. In addition to time planning, the role is also responsible for resource planning of the owner’s project team and for coordinating logistics planning related to Customer Provided Items (CPI) and Long Lead Items (LLI) to ensure timely delivery to the main contractor.
This role is essential for enabling proactive project control and successful execution in complex and time-sensitive projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop and maintain integrated project schedules from bid development through
commissioning and handover.
• Coordinate planning inputs from contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
• Monitor progress against baseline schedules and identify deviations, risks, and mitigation measures.
• Ensure alignment between schedule, cost, procurement, and resource plans.
• Facilitate schedule reviews and scenario planning to support decision-making.
• Plan and track resource allocation for the owner’s project team across project phases.
• Coordinate logistics planning and delivery schedules for CPI and LLI items to ensure alignment with construction milestones.
• Support the Project Manager and Cost Controller and Financial Manager with time-related data for forecasting and reporting.
• Contribute to claims and change management processes with time impact analysis.
• Support the future integration of planning data with digital tools and BIM-based workflows.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
• Experience in project planning and scheduling in large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and planning methodologies.
• Familiarity with the client (byggherre) role and planning requirements in turnkey and total contract models.
• Experience with logistics coordination and resource planning is an advantage.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
• Certification in project planning or scheduling (e.g., PMI-SP) is an advantage.
• Experience with PRINCE2 or structured project methodologies.
• Fluency in English; proficiency in a Scandinavian language is a plus.
