CNC Plasma Technician

Location: Support, East Bank Demerara.

Responsibilities: 

1. Create and prepare 2D part files using CAD software (AutoCAD, Fusion 360, or SolidWorks) and convert to suitable formats for CNC operation.
2. Generate and optimize toolpaths using CAM software (e.g., SheetCAM) and post-process G-code for cutting operations.
3. Set up, calibrate, and operate the Hornet MegaHornet 1000 CNC plasma cutter with proper cut parameters for various materials.
4. Handle and align steel plates for cutting; ensure material flatness and dimensional accuracy of finished parts.
5. Inspect completed parts for quality, performing minor rework when required.
6. Conduct routine maintenance on equipment, consumables, and supporting systems (air/gas supply, dust collection, etc.).
7. Maintain accurate production records and collaborate with Engineering and Fabrication teams to support workflow.
8. Follow all company safety procedures and ensure PPE compliance at all times.

Requirements: 

1. Certification or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Fabrication, or Industrial Technology.
2. Minimum 2 years’ experience operating CNC plasma or similar cutting machines.
3. Proficient in 2D CAD and CAM software (AutoCAD, Fusion 360, SheetCAM).
4. Knowledge of G-code programming and CNC controller systems (Hornet, Burny, or FlashCut).
5. Knowledge of how steel material and thickness impact cutting quality and efficiency.
6. Excellent attention to detail, technical aptitude, and adherence to safety standards.
