Junior Engineer
Location: Support, East Bank Demerara
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor dredging equipment and systems to ensure efficient and safe operations.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain dredging machinery to ensure optimal performance.
- Supervise and provide technical support to dredging crew members; train team on equipment use and safety procedures.
- Monitor environmental conditions and adjust dredging operations to comply with environmental regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and operational performance.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and local environmental laws.
- Collaborate with the Dredge Captain and COO to align operations with project schedules and goals.
- Assist with project budgeting and cost estimation for dredging activities.
- Analyze operational data and prepare reports on equipment performance, project progress, and technical challenges.
- Recommend and implement improvements to increase operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by the Dredge Captain or COO.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in dredging operations or marine engineering.
- In-depth knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems in dredging machinery.
- Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and reporting skills.
- Familiarity with environmental and safety regulations governing dredging.
- Proven experience in training and mentoring junior crew members.
- Leadership abilities with excellent communication and team management skills.
- Proficiency in dredge management software (e.g., Teledyne PDS) is an asset.
