Boat Attendant
Location: Support East Bank Demerara
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the safe operation of the boat, ensuring compliance with all maritime laws and regulations.
- Perform pre-departure checks and routine maintenance to ensure all boat equipment is functioning properly.
- Monitor weather conditions and assist in determining safe navigation routes.
- Safely load, unload, and secure cargo; assist passengers and crew with boarding and disembarking.
- Ensure availability and proper functioning of all required safety equipment, including life jackets and emergency kits.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the boat and its public areas; perform minor repairs and report malfunctions.
- Provide exceptional customer service to passengers and crew, ensuring a safe and pleasant experience onboard.
- Track fuel consumption, task completion times, and maintain logs for operational efficiency.
- Adhere strictly to company safety protocols and maritime safety standards at all times.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Dredge Captain or Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Requirements:
- Marine Safety Certification (STCW) or other recognized maritime training is an asset.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a boat operator or in a similar maritime role.
- Valid Grade 3 License.
- Strong physical fitness and ability to work in varying weather conditions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Willingness to work extended hours and under challenging conditions as required.
