Cost Controller, Commerial

NSB Omega is searching for a Cost Controller, Commercial for our MAJOR Utilities Client in St. John's, NL.  

Assignment Description

Working with an Owner/Consultant team, the Position reports to and receives direction from the Senior Manager, Major Projects, Commercial within the Major Projects Department. To contribute significantly to the department’s initiatives and goals, the ideal candidate is an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual with a robust learning ability, possesses strong oral and written communication skills, and is an effective team member. The ideal candidate will have the experience and education to perform the duties and job functions associated with this position, which include, but are not limited to, the following:

•  Complete financial, technical, and commercial attestation of Contractor payment applications and invoices;
• Coordinate with Contract Administrators to review and resolve billing issues;
• Coordinate the review and approval of financial documents to ensure fully documented and supported invoices are on file;
• Maintain a register of payment applications and invoices to track the review and approval process, ensuring processing and payment terms and conditions are satisfied;
• Complete customized attestation or verification duties;
• Maintain files and adhere to IM standards;
• Proactive support of a safety culture where "Nobody Gets Hurt;" an
•  Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Manager, Major Projects, Commercial.

Qualifications: 

• Post-secondary degree, diploma, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience; 
• Experience in accounting and/or cost control is required; 
• Highly proficient in the application of Microsoft Excel software is required; 
• Experience working in a major projects and/or construction project environment is an asset. 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English).
