At the event, students were introduced to Omega 365’s operations through short videos showcasing the work of Omega 365 and the range of expertise the company seeks. Omega 365 Solutions, along with other participating companies, presented a task to the students: using ChatGPT to create a website.

“Students were given a brief explanation of how a website is built, including information about what HTML, CSS, and JavaScript does. They also saw examples of how to instruct ChatGPT to generate code and came up with their own ideas for websites to create. Some websites included testing buttons that responded to actions, created prompt boxes, to-do lists, calculators, and more,” says Naomi Pop, who is part of Omega 365’s IT-team in Ølensvåg.

Practical challenges

Several of the students showed interest in technology and coding, enjoying the chance to learn and experiment in a practical setting. Over four days, the students gained insight into various local businesses and professions.

Karrierelaboratoriet, a concept tailored for 10th graders in Norwegian schools, has been an ongoing initiative for several years. The primary objective is to enable students to explore diverse professions and companies by immersing them in practical challenges. The challenges and the overall concept have been planned and executed in close collaboration with local businesses.
