From customer to supplier

An electrical engineer by background, Mendes previously worked as a Technical Manager in the renewables industry. It was during that time he first got to know Omega 365 through his company’s use of Pims. The experience left him with a positive impression of both the software and the people behind it. 

“When my company was about to downsize its Norwegian branch, I reached out to Omega to see if there might be any opportunities. I already knew it was a good company, with great people and software used all over the world. A few months later, I started as a Project Manager,” says Mendes, who received other offers but felt Omega 365 was the right fit. 

A question of growth 

Mendes brought a broad set of experience with him into the role. His background includes certification, product and production development, and performance indicators.

He also holds an MBA in quality management. At Omega 365 Protek, he quickly became involved in business strategy, operations, and administration. 

“We’re growing, and the big question is how we grow. I’ve been the customer before, and now I’m on the supplier side. That shift is really interesting to explore,” he says. 

“I chose Omega because I wanted to work on a variety of projects. Not long after, I was asked if I’d be interested in stepping into a Department Manager role – and here I am.” 

Driven by curiosity 

Mendes is driven by a desire to learn, and to keep learning by applying his knowledge in new ways. 

“It’s the variety that keeps me motivated. I enjoy working on different types of projects where I can use what I know, but also be challenged to grow. That’s how you keep learning,” he says. 

Originally from João Pessoa in Brazil, Mendes is now enjoying life in Western Norway. He and his wife, who is also an engineer, first moved to Nordland for a major project before settling in Haugesund. 

“We really enjoy it here. Haugesund has a good balance – it’s not too big, not too small,” says Mendes, who is also looking forward to exploring more of the Haugalandet region.
